Setting Up Fields

Drill Down Scatter PRO uses numerical values in the X-Axis and Y-Axis fields to determine the data point location on a Cartesian coordinate plane, and Categories or Legend fields to create data points.

If you haven’t added data to either of these fields, the visual will aggregate all values and display only one data point.

  • X-Axis (mandatory field): Numerical values on the X axis; used to determine horizontal placement of the data points.
  • Y-Axis (mandatory field): Numerical values on the Y axis; used to determine vertical placement of the data points.
  • Categories: Contains category names. Each unique category name will be used to create a data point; add multiple columns to create a drill down hierarchy.
  • Legend: Used to assign data points to legend groups (independently from the Categories field) that will be displayed as items in the legend block. You can also select a custom marker color and shape for each legend group. Will be used to create data points if no data is present in the Categories field (with limitations).

In addition, you can use the following fields to apply specific customization rules to individual data points, or display content in the labels or tooltips.

  • Label: Contains custom text to display in the data point labels. If left blank, category name will be displayed instead.
  • Value Label: Contains numerical values that will be displayed in the data point value labels. May differ from the X-Axis and Y-Axis values.
  • Marker Color: Contains color names or hex codes to apply custom fill colors for data point markers.
  • Marker Shape: Contains shape names to apply custom shapes to data point markers.
  • Marker Image: Contains images (in base64 format) to display custom images within data point markers.
  • Data Point Group: Contains strings (group1, group2…) to assign data points to groups and apply separate customization settings in Data Point Group (1-9).
  • Tooltips: Contains one or multiple columns of text or numerical values that will be displayed in the tooltip.
