Free mode
When the visual is added to a report without data, clicking on the More Info window will show the license state. If the state shows "Free Mode," it means no paid features are in use, and no license is required. Even if a license is applied, it will not display in Free Mode. This state remains the same even if data is added but no paid features are triggered.

Paid Mode Not Active
If you attempt to use paid features without activating Paid Mode, a "Paid Mode Not Active" pop-up will appear, prompting you to either activate Paid Mode or revert to a basic configuration by removing paid fields or features.

Free Preview
Once you start using paid features, the visual will start Free Preview, which will allow you to use all features of Drill Down Visuals for 12 hours. The information window will display the remaining time in your preview. Once the preview period ends, the paid features will no longer be available. If you wish to try the visual for a longer period, you can sign up for a Developer License.

Developer License Active
Pressing the Get Developer License button will take you to the sign-up page where you can get a free license that allows using ZoomCharts Drill Down Visuals in Power BI Desktop for 1 year. After successfully signing up, you will receive a license – read more about the licensing process here.
If you have successfully validated your license with the visuals, you will see the following message. With the buttons below, you can either upgrade to a paid license or start a 30-day trial, both of which will allow you to use the visuals not just in Power BI Desktop, but other tiers as well and in published reports.

Trial License
If you have activated the 30-day trial, the info window will show the status of your trial. Active: it means that your license is valid.

Five days before the trial ends, the information button turns orange, and you can see the remaining days until the trial license expires.

After the trial expires, a "Trial Expired" pop-up appears along with the ZoomCharts logo. To continue using the visual, you must either disable paid features to stay in Free Mode or apply a valid license.

License Active
When a valid license is applied, the information window shows "License Active."
If the license is manually applied using a key or hash (or license theme), a license tag icon will appear, and hovering over it will display the service tag number. This indicates that the license was purchased directly from ZoomCharts, and the License Settings section will be populated.

If the license is automatically detected via Microsoft 365 (purchased through AppSource), the license tag will be absent, and the License Settings section will remain empty.

License Expired
A "License Expired" pop-up and the ZoomCharts logo indicate that the license is no longer valid and requires renewal. This message applies only to manually applied licenses, which can be confirmed by checking the presence of a license tag and populated License Settings. The pop-up can be removed by renewing the license.

License Invalid
A "License Invalid" pop-up can occur in two scenarios: if the license is detected automatically via Microsoft 365 and has expired, or if the manually entered license key or hash is incorrect. In the first case, License Settings will be empty, and the license must be renewed in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. In the second case, License Settings will be populated, and you should check for typos or extra spaces in the license credentials. Once corrected, the license will become valid.

License Warning
A "License Warning" message applies to licenses detected automatically via Microsoft 365 and indicates that the license is still valid but there is an issue with the subscription, such as a declined payment. If the issue is not resolved promptly, the license will eventually become invalid. Understanding these messages ensures seamless use of Drill Down PRO visuals and allows for quick resolution of any licensing issues.

Multiple license states in one report
The license is always detected at the level of each individual visual. As a result, it is possible to have different license states within a single report for multiple visuals if multiple licenses (such as a single visual AppSource license and a manually applied key/hash) are applied simultaneously.
