Automatic Updates
If the custom visuals have been sourced from AppSource, they will be automatically updated to the most recent version as long as the report has access to the internet. Automatic updates will be applied if the visuals have been sourced using following methods:
- Adding the visuals to Power BI via the Get more visuals menu in the Visualizations pane.
- Using the Import a visual from a file menu in the Visualizations pane to import .pbiviz files that have been downloaded from AppSource.
- From Organizational Visuals if the the AppSource versions of ZoomCharts visuals have been added in the Admin Portal by an administrator.
Manual Update
Your custom visuals may not update automatically if the GUID of the visual files differ from the AppSource versions, and in those cases you will have to update the visuals manually. This will apply to the following scenarios:
- Non-AppSource versions of ZoomCharts visuals have been manually imported into the report using the Import a visual from a file menu.
- Non-Appsource versions of ZoomCharts visuals have been added to the Organizational Visuals in the Admin Portal.
- You are using test versions of ZoomCharts visuals not publicly available on AppSource.
- The report does not have access to the internet (for example, an offline Power BI Report Server).
If you wish to manually update your visuals, you must acquire the latest version as a .pbviz file from the AppSource web version. Search for your desired visual and press the Install Free button, which will download the latest version.
Afterwards, right click in the Visualizations pane and press Import visual from a file, locate the file and add it to your report. The updated visual
will appear in the Visualizations pane – replace the old visual with the
updated version in your report.
Administrators can manually update the organizational visuals by uploading the .pbiviz files to the Admin Portal.
